My first published work, a horror short story/Bluebeard retelling entitled “Vanessa” is out now in The Tongue Is Sharp. This anthology explores themes of violence and healing through expressions of feminine rage, and features plenty of angry and badass women both in the storytelling and as contributing creatives to the project.
If you’re angry over the state of our burning world, I hope you’ll consider picking up a copy of this anthology, because we’re angry too. The words of these fellow poets and authors were one of the few things that got me through yesterday and are still echoing in my head today, making me feel much less alone.
“Vanessa” is a meditation on power, violence, resistance, and the intimacy of friendship and queer love between women. All proceeds from the project will be donated to the American Civil Liberties Union.
I know these are frightening times for so many in marginalized communities, which is why coming together and using our voices is so important. We’re not going away. I hope you’ll join me in using your voice.
